The color scheme was chosen personally by the client as an homage to his alma mater, the University of Michigan. The idea for the map across the top of the page was executed by bringing a low-resolution world map in to Photoshop, and then on a new layer, hand-painting the individual rectangles which make up the image you see. Once finished, the original map was discarded. The shading bands were added as an artistic metaphor of the quantized digital nature of calibration and precision inspection which InCal performs.
