Our client was making the transition from partnership in an established advertising agency to being the principal of his own company. Because of this, it was important to establish a brand image which was clearly separate from his former agency. One of the goals in establishing the new brand was to make it a conversation piece, so careful though was given to the direction. During the creative planning sessions, we had this idea of using the image of the samurai katana to create a multi-faceted metaphor which captured not only the company name, but also its operating style. The katana is one of the most finely crafted swords in the world, and its edge conveys a sense of integrity both because of the passionate workmanship it imbodies, and also for the sheer cutting power the katana can unleash. On another level, the katana is an iconic symbol of the ancient Japanese samurai, whose bushido code of honor mirrors the way Integrity Edge approaches their business.
