Novelist Chuck Palahniuk once said, "Our real discoveries come from chaos, from going to the place that looks wrong and stupid and foolish." In my own experience, order has a tendency to beget familiarity, and familiarity has a like tendency to beget complacency. Even though disorder can be an unpleasant sensation, it can sometimes result in unexpected beauty because we are forced to connect the dots of life in ways we might not under more "normal" circumstances. These thoughts were the inspiration for Turbulence in Bloom.
Like A Study in Doodle Circles, this piece was created with the graphics tablet and Photoshop's wet media brushes. Rather than using circles though, I worked by simply scribbling in various colors across the canvas to create the underlying turbulence, and then switching to a more restrained brush technique for the flowers.
